The Painting

In The Painting, the viewer sees the gradual formation of a butterfly painted by Eggert Pétursson, one of Iceland’s leading painters, who received the prestigious Carnegie Award two years ago. The butterfly represents beauty, freedom, hope and diversity.

Klikk Productions in collaboration with Hrund Gunnsteinsdóttir produced four artistic short films in relation to UNIFEM’s fundraising – The Butterfly Week in Iceland 2008. The films deal in an artistic way with the various manifestations of gender-based violence endured by women and girls in many parts of the world.
